ANTENATAL CHECKUP (38 MINGGU)

Dah masuk 38 minggu. Alhamdulillah.
Kepala baby dah di bawah but belum masuk laluan.
And baby masih di posterior position.
Maksudnya her face mengadap tummy, not spine.
Maka, saya kena terus gigih exercise on birthing ball.
Obgyn kata banyakkan turun-naik tangga.

Bila dah 38 weeks ni mmg tak berani keluar jauh-jauh.
All activities mesti area Damansara sahaja.
Husband masih bekerja.
Saya dah diberi 2weeks MC sampai EDD :)

Setiap hari saya membaca.
Ada org kata tak elok, sbb nanti mother overthink.
But to me, I have to prepare myself mentally.
Maklumlah pengalaman pertama.
The only thing I couldnt imagine adalah sakit contraction.
So, set je dlm otak, "it is the most painful kinda pain in the world"
When we think that way, bila tiba masanya kalau tak sakit sangat, we'll be like,
"Takde apa sgt pun"
BUT if mmg sakit amat pun, otak dah set utk bersedia dgn kesakitan tu.

Nak dekat ni, banyak soalan saya tanya kawan2.
Even small things like--
Waktu teran tutup or buka mata? (Utk elak red eye/ urat mata pecah darah)
Mulut kemam or mcmana? (Utk elak muka 'terbakar')
Saya tanya soalan begini sbb asyik2 org ckp pasal jangan angkat punggung, dah tahu buat apa nak tanya lagi kan?

Sama juga nasihat yg semua org tahu-- makan kurma and minum air zamzam before bersalin. Mmg dah tahu dari zaman nenek, so tak perlulah saya tanya lagi.
Jadi soalan saya,
Before masuk labour room apa makanan yg kenyang n bagi tenaga? (Salmon, telur)
Masuk labour room, apa boleh makan? (No food, air je)
Kalau tak makan langsung? (Nanti tak larat nak push. So kalau nervous or tak lalu pun, kena makan)

Itulah kisahnya.
Btw, my baby pout during my 38w ANC.
Belum keluar lagi dah pout.
Kemain kau, nak. Haha

VAGINAL SWAB & PELVIC EXAM (37 MINGGU)

So, I had my first lesbo moment yesterday HAHA
Finger-f by a lady! HAHA jk.
It's normal for all pregnant women utk 'diseluk' when u're 37w pregnant.
It was a quick procedure.
Personally, it's not painful at all, maybe because my obgyn has skinny fingers HAHA
So sila take note kalau obgyn anda sejenis gebu. Lol

It's not painful, BUT mcm malu2 sikit.
Haha dah la siang hari, in broad daylight, tiba2 siap ada lampu suluh.
Luckily mmg clean-S down there. HAHA Penting ya. HAHA

Btw before the pelvic exam, my obgyn performed vaginal swab.
Yang tu tak guna fingers, guna speculum.

For pelvic exam, obgyn inserted two of her fingers hingga pangkal rahim.
It's to determine whether you have short/long laluan.
Lepas tu untuk determine if your cervix longgar or too tight.
During the antenatal checkup yesterday, my baby was 2.9kg.
So dia kata if baby 3.1-3.2kg by 39-40w, just nice.

I tanya obgyn, how to determine if susah?
She said kalau wanita laluannya panjang,  too tight, baby besar sgt-- selalunya dia risau if bahu tersangkut ke apa.
But anyway, walaupun dia ckp kepada saya my laluan and baby size just nice, but she said-- kadang2 yg berlakunya emergency csec adalah perkara yg any obgyn susah nak determine, iaitu kuasaNya.
Contohnya, cervix dilation stops half way and pelvic tak buka enough baby tak boleh lalu.
So yeah, still kena mentally prepared if ditakdirkan begitu.
Ok sekian.

Love,
Y

9 MONTHS! ALHAMDULILLAH

Hari ini dah masuk 36 minggu.
Secara rasminya, 9 bulan.
Tak sampai 3-4 minggu lagi nak bersalin.
Nervous yang amat.

I had my antenatal checkup on Monday.
Terkejut juga blood pressure naik sikit.
The reading was 150/100.
Obgyn tanya "Awak stress ke?"
Me: No
Obgyn: Banyak makan high cholestrol food? Lamb?
Me: No, I don't eat lamb at all. Garam in food pun saya control.
Obgyn: Ini mesti overthink.
Me: Most probably.

So, my obgyn gave me cuti sakit 3 hari untuk berehat.
But next week kena datang untuk V-swab n pelvic test.

And secondly, kemas beg hospital!
Just in case kena masuk wad terus LoL.

SMALL BABY?

Seriously, I don't eat for two-- because that's a myth.
I eat healthily and til now, at 34 weeks pregnant, I gained around 16 kg only.
I eat rice, all sorts of protein, vege, fruits--- everything in moderation.
Takdela melantak sampai naik 30kg.

Cuma yang menghairankan---
Kalau ikut Apps 'What To Expect', at 34 weeks pregnant, my baby should weigh 2kg.
Bila pergi antenatal checkup yesterday, she's 2.1.kg.
So I was like, "Ahaaaa good! Lebih kurang!"

Dah habis scan, tiba-tiba obgyn cakap---
"Your baby is quite small. You have to drink more milk, if not nanti kena c-sec"
Aku macam-- WHAT??!!!
Apa yang small nya?
Motif c-sec?

I think this is the third time she mentioned the word c-sec.
Rasa nak tukar Obgyn je!
Tapi dah 34 weeks.
Nanti good Obgyn lain taknak terima dah.
Urgh.

WANITA MENGANDUNG MALAYSIA DIMANJAKAN

Tajuk merujuk kepada how Malaysian women are treated by the gov hospitals in Malaysia.
Kita sebenarnya sangat dimanjakan kerajaan.
Dan haruslah bersyukur dengan nikmat yang ada.
Budaya kita menyebabkan sensitiviti terhadap wanita mengandung sangat tinggi.
Apatah masyarakat Melayu yang melihat wanita mengandung ni macam... erm.. kasihan?

Honestly, my friends who gave birth in the UK have shared stories of their birthing experience-- takde maknanya lah hospital kerajaan nak melayan kerenah hangpa. They've been working with thousands of mothers and sambut thousands of babies every month. They just know.
In fact, dekat Malaysia ni pun obgyn tahu-- cuma kalau tak dilayan, orang kita ni senang sentap.

Kalau asma pun, depa suruh balik. Belum lagi cerita pasal appointment dengan GP... seminggu paling awal, baru dapat jumpa doctor. Kalau demam, dah baik dah pun demam Haha. Itu pengalaman peribadi saya sendiri. Lol

Bercakap tentang ibu mengandung---
Kalau di hospital kerajaan di UK-- Rasa nak bersalin? Contraction yang teramat sakit? Dah buka 3cm? Anda akan disuruh balik rumah.
For medical practitioners, 3cm is considered nothing.
They'll ask you to go home and rest until your water breaks.
Kalau 1cm?
Remember, pregnancy is not a disease.

Kalau dekat Malaysia buat macamtu...? Habis VIRAL!
The doctors just know--- you won't give birth just by sitting at the lounge.
You won't give birth just because you don't get a bed.
Bukan kata sejam, 4-5 jam pun belum tentu bersalin lagi.
You have choices-- to go home, to walk around or to just sit and wait.
If you want to be treated like a queen, go to private hospitals. Simple.
You can demand if you are in private hospitals because you are paying quite a sum of money.
Jangan maki-maki staf hospital kerajaan tak tentu hala.
(Note: Dan tak perlulah viralkan di laman sosial)

Bagi pengamal perubatan apatah yang dah sekian lama berkhidmat di wad bersalin, ibu-ibu yang less than 3cm, they know nothing will happen within a few hours.
Unless physician realised mom has potential for rapid labour (yang jenis buka 1cm every 10-20minutes) -- kes begini pun, pun satu dalam seribu.
Selalunya, kalau dah pecah air ketuban atau dah buka 6cm, baru pesakit dibenarkan masuk wad and tunggu sampai fully dilated sebelum di bawa ke labour room.
Afterall, according to the NHS, waiting for long hours in the ward will only make mothers 'malas'-- terlantar sahaja menahan contraction and ada kes yang tak boleh buka dah sbb suasana hospital yang menyebabkan mother takut.

Malangnya di Malaysia, ramai tak faham konsep rawatan percuma di fasiliti kerajaan.
Mengapa agaknya orang kita selalu panik tak tentu hala?
Blame it on the unnecesary drama scenes!!!
Honestly, semua yang dah ada pengalaman cakap--- takde maknanya first time rasa contraction terjerit-jerit bagai. The starting pain comes slowly-- it doesn't just hit you like in the movies. Even in the labour room, of course it's painful, but tak perlu jerit-jerit.
Drama Melayu kita perlu ubah semua tu so that we, Malaysians, can change our mindset.
To be as calm as we could.

P/s:

Walhal kawan-kawan yang bersalin di UK bagitahu, obgyn and midvives akan nasihatkan duduk mencangkung, and if ada kudrat--- do the duck walk.
Kalau kat sini? Mak/nenek/moyang menjerit if tengok kita duck walk haha

SUPPLEMENT DURING PREGNANCY

New Obimin (since second trimester)
Calcium (since second trimester)
Vitamin C (since third trimester)
Neurogain (since third trimester)

Kalau tak pregnant, punyalah liat nak makan ubat-- langsung tak pernah disiplin.
Tapi demi baby, semua supplement yang obgyn suruh consume-- tiap hari tak pernah skip. Lol

I bought VCO already. But according to my obgyn it is safer jika makan after 35 weeks of pregnancy. Katanya, takut baby distress and to avoid bersalin before you reach full-term.
Obgyn juga bagi advice jangan simply minum air selusuh or akar fatimah, again with the same reason, takut baby lemas.

Additional info:
Nasihat given by 3 doctors including my obgyn. During pregnancy, if you are down with demam, hanya Paracetamol (Panadol) yang selamat dimakan. Even to treat cramps, bisa kaki, sakit belakang, sakit pungkoq ke, Paracetamol juga jawapannya. Strictly NO Ponstan.

Untuk batuk, doc kata the safest for pregnant women is Prospan (Ivy leaves).
Selsema & Gatal2, Piriton sahaja. NO zyrtec (nampak je kecil, but harmful to your unborn child). Talk to your GP or obgyn sebelum makan apa2 ubat ya.. jangan simply beli ubat over the counter.

MINUMLAH ENFAMAMA

So.
Two weeks ago (April 1st, 2016), my obgyn told me that my baby is slightly small (2 weeks behind her age) weighing at only 1.2kg.

She told me to drink lots of milk.
Husband and I bought Enfamama.
The milk, honestly, taste wise, hurm, not so yummy.
But, I made a pact to minum jugak -- twice a day.

This morning I went for my 31weeks ANC.
Baby is 1.75kg already!
Imagine, baby naik setengah kilo in only 2 weeks!
Happy sangat sangat!
...Doc scan and ckp "See baby pun dah tembam"
Hihi

To all expectant mothers.. Enfamama is a way to go!
I thought mitos semata.
I thought susu biasa pun ok, asalkan minum susu.
But aha! Pregnancy and lactation milk work wonders!
Cubalah yaaaaa.

Xoxo,
Yuyu
